Today I....

1. stood up Tiffany. (sorry T, I sent you a text!)

2. Met with Pete from FGCU's Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity to discuss a philanthropy project we're helping them with.

3.Did a photo shoot for the Sanibel Captiva Chamber of Commerce

4. Ate Burger King in my car between appointments (yeah, it was one of those days!)

Still to do...

1. an advertisement due to the publisher today.

2. Get pix to Kevin from Elite DJ's

3. website stuff.

4. figure out how to make this long list into just 4 things!

Some of my guilty pleasures....

1. French fries. ALL french fries. If stranded on an island... yep, french fries.

2. Swedish Fish.

3. Nice hotels.

4. Kahlua Cigars.

Random facts about me...

1. I rarely watch TV. We have 1 TV in our house and we take turns with it... during my time, we turn it off!

2. We have a basketball hoop IN the studio. If you ever call and Emily says to you "Krista and Mike are shooting in the studio" make what you will of it ;-).

3. I collect antique cameras. I have over 200!

4. My sister is planning her wedding. I've been coined "bridesmaidzilla" I only have one sister! And I love weddings!

I get asked this question all of the time. There are so many variables, unfortunately I don't have one simple answer. I will say that no matter what, we always make it work. That is exactly what happened at Drew and Angelique's wedding at Grandezza. The guests were all seated, the bridal party was ready to go, and we felt the first drop, then another... and then all of the guests ran for cover.  Angelique was set on having her garden wedding (it is a beautiful garden, well worth the wait) so we waited, and waited and still the rain didn't stop. It finally came to a point where if she didn't start her ceremony, it was going to be dark. So she agreed to moving her ceremony to the covered area. First, I have to say, Sean, the catering manager at Grandezza, is a saint. I honestly believe the staff at a hotel or club is an important consideration when choosing a venue. Flexible, professional staff can make your day. Sean was so accommodating, he (in record time!) moved the entire ceremony set up to the alternate location. He was willing to do whatever Angelique wanted. I know that sounds like a given, but trust me, I see weddings every weekend. Not all properties will hold off dinner for an hour waiting for the rain to stop. Anyway, so the ceremony went on at the alternate location (which is actually really beautiful as well). As it continued to sprinkle, Angelique and Drew were still able to exchanged vows with palm trees framing them in the distance.

Okay, so that's what happens to the ceremony when it rains. So, what happens to the PICTURES when it rains? Well, in this situation, the ceremony didn't end until after the sun had already gone beyond the horizon. We had about 5 minutes of daylight, a wedding party of 18, several family photographs and an adorable newly married couple that I was really looking forward to photographing! So, we made it work. Luckily the rain had let up at that point. So began the 5 minute photo marathon. I pride myself on keeping the photography time short (although that was an extreme!) and also on keeping things organized. In an attempt to use what little light we had we completely changed the order and out went the original "plan", so much for my organization! It was a little chaotic, but we got a bunch of great shots before we had to move our shoot inside. Overall, the situation made for a challenge, but we managed to still come away with some great photographs! 

So, that's the story of Angelique and Drew. Outside of the rain and the chaos of pictures, the day was perfect. They are a sweet couple and were truly a pleasure to work with! I'm really glad we got to be a part of their day.
