A Busy Week for Impressions

The Impressions team has been really busy over the past few days. We've had weddings at Tween Waters, Gulf Harbour, Casa Ybel and out to South Seas Resort tomorrow. Between weddings we've also photographed several family portraits. Tonight I was at the beach with Kendra and Garison for a mother and son portrait. I've posted a few of their pictures. Kendra is a local musician and does vocals for the band Boomerang. All of our brides still looking for a band for their big day, check them out: www.wespagemusic.com

Something to Check Out

I've been following the work of New York based photographer, Bill Wadman. Wadman started a project the beginning of 2007 called 365 portraits. Each day he adds one portrait of a person to his site. As the year is coming to an end, it's really interesting to look back over his year long venture. I love the concept. I've always been interested in ongoing documentary projects. Hmmm, how about 365 people in Fort Myers? I think the Impressions Crew could take that on! Any participants!!

The site is www.365portraits.com be sure and check it out!

Staying busy with beach portraits!

Everything is a photo shoot in our house!

As my daughter would be quick to tell you, it can be painful living with a photographer! Every moment is captured. I'm sure some day she will appreciate it, but till then, I'll probably hear her say "MOM, put the camera down!!" a few more times!

The second shot is of my daughter Olivia (on the left) with her friend Madison making christmas cookies for Santa.

Jennifer and Scott's Wedding

I love when couples include children in the wedding party. In Jennifer's case, there was no leaving out her three little ones! As I was looking through the final images, several of my favorites were of the kids. I've gone ahead and included a few of those here in the blog.

Weddings Please!

Photography is a very specialized profession. There are photographers that specifically shoot food, fashion, architecture, microscopic organisms (no really!) and there are those of us that just love weddings. Of course I'm one of those nuts that can't get enough of weddings. I am often asked to shoot the most random things though. Usually I will suggest contacting the appropriate photographer for the job, but every now and then I do find myself photographing something that does not include a bride and groom. In the past I've done work for the PBA (Professional Bowlers Association), I spent a day photographing a steak for a restaurant, I even took pictures for a view master slide presentation! Just last month it was a 2nd grade class play and a Marteen Cronin's purses. This month I thought I was safe working within my box, until Rob from the Colony contacted us and needed pictures of his dining room. I have to say, there probably isn't anything more boring than photographing a bunch of tables! But Tiffany and I went down there today and did it. When we finished we poked around the club and got a bunch of cool shots of the architecture. The place is amazing. So, we took a pretty boring shoot and had fun with it. Sorry Rob, I'm not saying your dining room is boring, but next time can we at least throw a flower girl in the shot ;-)

Holiday Parties

Impressions had a busy night tonight with holiday parties. I attended the National Association of Wedding Professionals big holiday event at the Colony Bay Club. As always the Colony put on a wonderful party. They had their chef making bananas foster, one of my favorites! And of course Santa Clause stopped in! I met a new photographer in the area, Maria with Butterfly Kisses. She was photographing the event. It looked like she was getting some great shots.

While I was at the Colony, Mike and Tiffany were out at the South Seas Resort for their annual holiday party. I haven't talked to them yet, but I'm sure they had a great time. That party is always a lot of fun. You've gotta love this time of year! When else are there multiple parties going on on a Monday night!!

Our Friends

This time of year we have several clients that we photograph every year for their holiday cards. One of those families is the Barone family. The Barone's started coming to us 5 years ago just after they moved to the Fort Myers area. After their first sitting, we began talking and quickly realized that we have a lot in common. As it turns out we are both from the same area in Pennsylvania and their oldest daughter and my daughter are the same age. It wasn't long before the Barone family became more than clients, they were also close friends. Since that first meeting we have spent many fun times together. Our girls are all at the same school now and also have a great friendship. It's been really fun watching the girls grow up and being their photographer, documenting their lives over the past five years.
